What Happened To The Floppy Disk?

August 1st, 2008 · 1 Comment · Randomness

I try to stay abreast of fashion news as much as possible. So how could I resist clicking a headline like this Floppy diskettes reborn in fashion? I’m an admitted computer addict. I love having up to date computer components and software. Sometimes I wonder what happens to all of the outdated things I send away. Do they end up in toxic computer waste lands or polluting the water supply with dangerous chemicals? I feel a small twinge of relief knowing that jewelry maker Oxx-An Alleweireldt isn’t letting our trash go to waste. She’s transforming floppy diskettes into cute and functional bracelets. The obsolete floppy diskette is finding a new use. A use which is another small step towards reducing computer waste.

Approx. $87

Top: Full size version approx. $110

Bottom: Petite version approx. $87

The price tag isn’t too steep for the geek, chic fashionista.

Wow. They’re really really cool. Kinda futuristic. Would love a brooch like that, actually.
