I’ve been sitting on this post for almost a month. Towards the beginning of September I decided to get a new tattoo. I have an affinity for stars and anything cosmic. I decided to go with stars and a spaceship because I’m an out of this world kind of girl.
I sent a rough sketch of what I wanted to my tattoo artist and she created this for me.
It took me a while to decide on placement for it. I eventually ended up having her shrink it so that it would fit on my left shoulder.
I absolutely love it. The artist did an amazing job and her idea ended up being better than my original sketch.
If you are considering getting body art I have a few tips for you.
- Find a reputable tattoo artist. Talk to friends and family that have nice tattoos. Get their opinions about places in your area that may interest you.
- Decide on what you want. Remember tattoos are permanent. Get something that you enjoy or feel really represents you.
- Pick a location. Where do you want to have your tattoo placed?
- Prep yourself. There is some pain involved in the process. Every one’s tolerance level is different. You can take an ibuprofen before hand to ease some of the pain. Consider bringing a stress ball to squeeze.
- Follow the care instructions. Every tattoo artist should give their clients a list of up keep instructions. Don’t lose this paper. Follow the instructions and recommendations of your tattoo professional.
- Wear sunscreen always. Tattoos do fade over time but sun accelerates the process. Make sure you always wear sunscreen spf 30 or higher when your tattoo is exposed.
